StyleUp
A personalizable, contemporary online bullet journaling app.

What is StyleUp?
StyleUp is a customizable online bullet journaling app that lets users plan day-to-day tasks like a traditional bullet journal. It features year-long planning with monthly trackers, holistic calendar layouts, and habit trackers.
Project Overview
Problem: Traditional bullet journaling can be time-consuming and difficult to maintain, lacking the flexibility and sustainability that digital solutions offer. Users need a more efficient way to plan and track their lives without sacrificing customization.
Solution: StyleUp is an online bullet journaling app that combines the personalization of traditional journals with the convenience of digital tools. It offers customizable layouts, monthly trackers, and a unique Smart Shopping feature to promote sustainable planning, all within a user-friendly digital interface. My goal was to design a solution that saves time and improves efficiency, making it perfect for the busy lifestyles of college students and young adults.

Design Process
Ideation
As a former bullet journal user and perfectionistic organizer, I valued the ability to customize my planning process. During my time in college, I naturally transitioned to staying organized with digital tools as my workflow moved online, but missed the flexibility of traditional journals. This inspired me to create an app with customizable templates that streamline planning, making it easier and more efficient for busy young adults.
Research
I began by analyzing traditional bullet journaling methods and identifying which features were most valued by users. I then researched existing digital tools to understand what was missing in terms of flexibility and customization. This involved gathering feedback from fellow classmates and students, and reviewing similar apps to pinpoint pain points and opportunities for improvement.
With these insights, I was able to move on to develop customizable templates and layouts that blend the versatility of bullet journaling with the convenience of digital planning, ensuring the app would meet the needs of busy college students and young professionals.
Design & Prototype
After conducting extensive research, I began the design phase using Figma for user interfaces and Adobe Illustrator for additional design elements. Drawing inspiration from my own bullet journal spreads, I incorporated features highly valued by users, such as customizable year-long layouts, monthly trackers, monthly calendars, and habit trackers. I also introduced an interactive shopping list feature called Smart Shopping.
Once the UI was complete, I created a demo clickthrough on Figma to implement the UX design for my minimum viable product.

Next Steps
My next steps for development include refining the app’s UI/UX based on user feedback and expanding features to enhance personalization and usability. I plan to integrate data analytics to better understand user behavior and incorporate cross-platform compatibility for seamless use across devices.
